Heritage, Heroes & Home

The Institute for the Humanities at Salado is staging a lecture series titled Heritage, Heroes & Home, and Mark is expected to attend and speak at one of the lectures! The event in question is the inauguration of the Lee Marvin Memorial Lecture, and with Mark are supposed to attend more of the main cast of The Big Red One! This will happen November 8, 2009 in the Longhorn Conference Center of the Salado Stagecoach Inn, Salado (Texas). Start is 4.00 PM.

Mark at Adobe Awards 2009

Mark plays Robert Minkow!

IMDb has name for the character Mark is playing in the new and as of yet still untitled movie on the real-life story of Barry Minkow. It's Robert Minkow - this sounds like he's playing a relative of the lead character, which I hope will translate into some serious screen time.

Finally I can log on here and leave my birthday wishes for our beloved Mark! Better late than never, right? I think this was the first time in all my Mark Hamill fandom life that I have had absolutely no way to leave any wishes on the day proper. :( Oh well, I'm sure all you other Hamill fans stood in for me just fine. :)

"Mythic Journeys" screening at Dragon*Con '09

In this animated documentary Mark voices a character by the name of The Corpse. The movie has been highly praised, and will be screened at Dragon*Con 2009 on Saturday, September 5.

An incredible piece of news landed in my mailbox this morning. The Hollywod Reporter posted this yesterday, August 30, 2009:
Justin Baldoni has been cast in the title role in the real-life story of "Barry Minkow." Baldoni joins James Caan, Armand Assante, Mark Hamill and Ving Rhames in the bizarre story of a teenage entrepreneur running a successful carpet company, ZZZZ Best, who gets busted for running a Ponzi scheme.

90-minute Mark Interview

The website Colony of Gamers landed a phone interview with Mark. It was supposed to take 30 minutes, but Mark ended up talking for 90 minutes straight. It is an absolutely awesome, amazing, fun interview - could it be otherwise, with Mark just going on and on about all possible kinds of entertainment-related things?

Heads-Up: Arkham Asylum

A definite release date for Batman: Arkham Asylum has been announced. It will hit US stores on August 25, European stores on August 28. It will be available for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. My recommendation is clear: get it for PlayStation 3! Why, you ask? Well....

Because on PlayStation 3, you'll be able to download an addition for free which will allow you to PLAY THE GAME AS JOKER! You will BE JOKER!

And just to wet your mouth some more, here's the official trailer for playing the clown-prince of crime! Do not forget to click on full-screen view! I want this!!

This Joker is just sooo good! As Mark said in the panel, he's allowed to kill people in the game, to be violent, which he wasn't allowed so much in the animated series. Now, who's getting the PS3 version? ;D

CCSD: Mark on voicing for "Darksiders"

This is a special gem, because there just aren't many video interviews of Mark these days. During Comic-Con, Mark sat down with Fear.net to talk about his involvement in the new game Darksiders: Wrath of War. In case you don't remember, Mark voiced The Watcher, who's sticking to the player like nasty glue. ;)

This video is of quite a good quality, however, it took a while to load for me, despite it being only about 4 minutes. So don't give up on it too soon!

CCSD: What about the green lightsaber?

Mark was kind enough to answer a STAR WARS question that had been bugging a fan for years. Was there ever a scene shot for Return of the Jedi in which we see Luke build his new, green lightsaber? Mark's answer is quite clear, from his part. I don't remember ever seeing such a scene, but I quite distinctly remember imagining it as I was reading the ROTJ novelization.

CCSD: "Arkham Asylum" Panel

The panel for the new video game Batman: Arkham Asylum was a true hoot. Mark was there together with writer Paul Dini and the voice of Batman, Kevin Conroy, and you could tell how passionate they all were about the franchise and the new game. Courtesy of YouTube and the fans that were kind enough to share their video footage, here's some things for you to look at and listen to.

First of all, Mark's Joker laugh live and in color. This is the very end of the panel:

Here's another short sequence of excellent quality. Mark's so much fun to listen to!

Behind the cut, you'll find three videos covering the entire "Batman: Arkham Asylum" panel. There is no video footage, but the audio is just fine. It was a super panel. Wish I'd been there.

Mark on "Darksiders: Wrath of War"

You may or may not already know that Mark has voiced for the new video game Darksiders: Wrath of War. I now found a trailer for Mark's character at YouTube. He is voicing The Watcher, not-so-loved companion of the game's lead character, apocalyptic horseman War.

This video not only shows extensive footage of the character and treats us to Mark's fabulous voice, we also go behind-the-scenes to see Mark give life to The Watcher! It's quite a thrilling performance. I found myself wishing this were a full-length animated movie. I'd go to the theater for this! :)

What do you think? It's a new voice. It's got something of Joker in it, but not that much. I think it's way more evil and less playful than Joker, and has a very demonic timbre to it.

Mark at Comic-Con San Diego 2009

Mark will once again be at Comic-Con International in San Diego this year! The event is held July 23 to July 26 and fans have several opportunities to see him.

Autograph Session

Mark signs for Official Pix at their booth, Friday, July 24 and Saturday, July 25.

Award Presentation

According to the IMHFC, Mark is going to present a Will Eisner Comic Industry Award together with Bill Mumy during the gala ceremony on Friday, July 24 at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront. More details on the event here.

Panel "Batman: Arkham Asylum"

On Saturday, July 25 (8:30 to 12:15) Mark will be at a panel for a sneak peek at Batman: Arkham Asylum, in which he voices The Joker. With him will be, among others, writer Paul Dini and the voice of Batman, Kevin Conroy. Mark's panel will be followed by a panel discussion of the Director's Cut of Watchmen (no Mark, I think).

So, isn't this awesome???? I hope there will be many, many photos and YouTube videos and if you go to Comic-Con and meet Mark and/or see him at the panel or the award presentation, let us know!

Tigger & Pooh and a Musical Too

You might know that Mark has been voicing Turtle in several episodes of the children's animated series My Friends Tigger & Pooh. I just learnt that he has resumed the role for another project.

Tigger & Pooh and a Musical Too is a full-length, straight-to-DVD feature and was released April 7, 2009. You can purchase the movie via Amazon.com.

As for Just The Best, I have updated the TV schedules. Check them out for the USA, for the UK & Ireland, and for Germany.

After a months-long absence, I am finally returning to Talking Hamill. I am in the process of introducing something like time management into my life. Because I'm not 100% there yet, my return is marked by relaying to you the huge updates on Just The Best today. Let me copy and paste.

If you want to, you can witness Mark's voicework on the big screen this month! Mark has done a voice for Battle for Terra, which premiered in US theaters May 1. He plays a Terrian Elder named Orin. Find out all about the movie at battleforterra.com.

Mark also had a short guest appearance on NASA's Irrelevant Astronomy. The episode is called Gravity and the Great Attractor and aired April 23. You have to watch until the very end to hear Mark's brief cameo. That said, the show is interesting for itself. I, at least, hadn't known anything of that before. Download it for your computer or your iPod here.

Let's go on. I learnt that Batman: Arkham Asylum will be released in a special Collector's Edition. This Collector's Edition doesn't only include cool Batman memorabilia, it also includes a Behind the Scenes DVD with interviews - also a Mark interview! So, if you want to get the game, think about getting the Collector's Edition!

Other Voiceover news - you can now pre-order Mythic Journeys and Quiet Earth reports that Conan: Red Nails seems to be slated for release in December 2009. Quantum Quest will premiere September 2009. All of this and more in the Project Tracker!

I hope that next time I hear of Mark news, I can post them directly. However, to prevent any potential future hiatus, Talking Hamill will feature every update on Just The Best. So if all goes well, you'll hear from me at least once a week.

I know it's been so many months since I've posted here. There's a rough and stressy time behind me, but it looks like things are going to calm down and I have every intention of breathing life back into Talking Hamill.

I start today with a wonderful goodie. The first trailer for Batman: Arkham Asylum is out there! In case you don't know, Mark is reprising the role of The Joker for this new game - it's simply thrilling that he's re-visiting the franchise. :)

The game looks very good, and make sure you listen right to the very end! So deliciously spooky!

I strive to catch up with all the folks on LJ throughout the next two weeks or so and prepare this LJ for the arrival of The Black Pearl, which hopefully won't take too long anymore.

The Braille Challenge 2008

On Saturday, June 28, Mark was at the Hilton Universal Hotel in Los Angeles for the Braille Challenge. Organized by the Braille Institute of America, this event is a competition in several categories between blind or visually impaired children of all ages from all over the US and Canada.

Mark was on hand to hold a little speech, give them their awards and pose for pictures. In the hour he was on stage he was funny, entertaining and was even persuaded to do some cartoon voices for the audience! :D

There are plenty of photos from the evening and you can listen to the entire award show as an .mp3 file. Mark's first appearance is at about 54 minutes into the show.

Mark narrates Planetarium premiere

The Adventure Science Center in Nashville, Tennessee will have a Grand Opening Weekend for its new Sudekum Planetarium on June 28 - 29 and guess what?

No, Mark won't be there in person, BUT the ASC had a 26-minute show done for the opening weekend and Mark narrates the show!

It's called Stars - The Powerhouses of the Universe and is screened several times during the Opening Weekend.

So when you're in or close to Nashville and don't have anything to do, maybe you want to go and listen to Mark's wonderful voice. ;D

Latest Photo & Voiceover News

The latest photograph of Mark comes with a piece of voiceover news. Apparently Mark has worked with OddBot Inc. on a new project for Playhouse Disney.

There is no more detailed information at this point, but OddBot Inc. has uploaded a photograph of the cast and crew together with Mark to their blog.

He looks great! :D

As soon as I learn more about the voiceover project I'll let you all know.

Mark at Celebration Japan

Mark is going to be at STAR WARS Celebration Japan!

The convention will be held July 19 to July 21 in the Makuhari-Messe Convention Center near Tokyo.

Mark is scheduled to sign autographs in the Celebration Japan Autograph Hall on all three days and he will also do a rare appearance on the Main Stage.

Mark voicing for a new Video Game

Just found out that Mark has voiced for a new video game.

It is called The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon and Mark voices the hero's (Spyro's) main antagonist, the Dark Master.

It's supposed to ship this fall for Xbox 360, Wii, Playstation 2 and Playstation 3 and Nintendo DS.
