Mark on NEW-GEN

Mark is embarking on a huge new voiceover project titled NEW-GEN.

After a six-issue comic book series launching April 9, NEW-GEN will branch into motion pictures, television series, toys, merchandising and video games.

Mark voices Gabriel, the leader of the new generation of super heros.

A teaser is availabe here or via the official website www.new-gen.info.

Mark will also be celebrity judge of the NEW-GEN Challenge which will kick off April 18, 2008 at the New York Comic-Con upon NEW-GEN's official launch. Winners will be announced July 24-28 at Comic-Con San Diego. This might mean that Mark will actually be at Comic-Con, but there's been no official word on that yet.

Citing Mark:
"Watching NEW-GEN™ evolve from a fascinating idea into a fully-realized, beautifully rendered comic book universe has been a real thrill for me. Fans of science-fiction/fantasy owe it to themselves to give NEW-GEN™ some serious attention!"

Animals, Corvettes and Barbarians

As I was putting together next week's US TV schedule for Just The Best, I stumbled upon another voiceover project of Mark that I hadn't heard of.

In 2004, there was a series of documentaries called Animal Icons, which was dedicated to "examining the history and legacy of famous pop-culture animal characters from television, movies and books." As I found out, Mark was an interviewee in the 9th episode of this series of documentaries, which was screened on June 8, 2005. Not surprisingly, the episode was called Animated Animals. I got this information from TVGuide.com. The site that had originally set me onto the trail of this series credited Mark for the episode on Godzilla, but TVGuide.com doesn't say anything about that.

This covers the animal part of the subject line. Now on to the Corvette.

The corvette Mark lovingly rebuilt and chased all throughout Las Vegas in Corvette Summer will be on display September 21 to September 23 at the 14th Annual Corvette Funfest, to be held in Effingham, Illinois. Maybe this isn't something you'd fly halfway across the US for, but if you happen to be in Illinois, or even close to Effingham, why not take a look? I sure would. :)
The Funfest has its own website.

What else was there? Oh yes, the Barbarians. The first blog entry for the Conan: Red Nails animated movie is online and it's all about the movie's voice cast. Go to the Conan: Red Nails blog. Mark's praise is sung AND they say that he voiced A NUMBER OF roles in the movie. So far I knew only of a nasty villain named Tolkemec. Isn't this cool?

Pout

Why does Mark pout?

Probably because of this:

"When Luke is training with Yoda in The Empire Strikes Back, he had to bump his head on his roof 16 times before the director was happy with the scene."

I found this little bit of information in an article at The Daily Record which claims to present 30 things you never knew about the original Star Wars trilogy.

Of course I am appropriately sorry for poor Mark, yet I can't help imagine him crawl out of Yoda's hut to totter uncertainly over to his chair and give Irvin Kershner the silent treatment for the rest of the day. *lol*
